Lip Lifts

Lips at rest should show adequate upper teeth especially on females. A long upper lip is both a sign of aging and is unattractive. There should be 2 or 3 mm of the upper incisors showing at rest. One innovation is to raise the upper lip by excision of skin directly under the nose with the incision hidden by the nose shadow. The incision allows the lip to be elevated and to be curled if indicated by the shape of the tissue removed. This produces both exposure of the tooth and increased vermillion tissue.

The lip lift is performed under sedation or general anesthesia in our office. There is postoperative swelling of the lip, of course, and complete healing requires 2 to 3 weeks. The incision is meticulously closed to minimize any scar formation. Patient selection is critical to success, and at your consultation visit we will help you decide if this procedure is indicated for you . The procedure can be combined with fillers to enhance the coutour of the lips.
